OVERVIEW OF IELTS LISTENING TEST
1. It lasts around 30 minutes.

3.There are 40 questions in total. Each questions carries 1 mark
4.You will have time to look at the questions before the recording begins and also you will have time to check your answer at the end.
5.Listening is exactly same for Academic and General Training.
Tips for ielts listening test
1. The recording will not be repeat. It will be played only once.
2. You must have practice to give answer by listening only once before your test.
3. At the beginning of practice or when you are developing your skills and vocabulary, you might want to practice listening more then once. This is fine when you are in beginning stage.
4. You must be able for multitasking. It means you must be able to read the questions, listening for the answer and write down words at the same time. You should practice it.
5. You should write your answer in the answer sheet using pencil not a pen.
6. Scores are calculated by numbers of points you got correct. There is no any risk for negative marking.
7. Don’t leave any questions without answering. If you don’t know answer, guess and write the answer. Who knows, maybe your answer is right!!
8. You can write your answer using capital or lower case letter. However, I recommend using all capital letters.
9. While writing multiple choice question answer you must write option not full answer(ie, if answer is c.car then write c not car)
10. If your answer is spelled wrong, the answer is marked wrong. You must have the correct spelling to get a point and have the answer marked correctly.
Some tricks to get huge band score
1. Before the recording starts you should look all the questions and try to predict the answer.
2. If there is phone number asked in the question then listen the number carefully because recording will not be replay.
3. Highlight the keywords and try to focus in the main word (key words) during the recording plays. It helps you to predict the right answer.
4. Don’t spend too much time on one question.
5. Be careful if you hear words like but or however. This means the speaker is going to qualify the previous statement.
6. Don’t left any questions without answering. If you have no answer guess according to the topic sometimes it may be correct.
7. Be confident and don’t get scared.
